Make a Blog Post

Getting started

There will be examples from different subjects and year levels of what a great blog post can look like shared here. They'll look and be structured differently to meet the needs of different subjects, and will reflect what a creative response or digital learning object (DLO) looks like in that subject, and what creative and critical thinking might be in a particular subject. The posters below are general guides to get you started with blog posting - your own original approach to sharing your learning on your blog will develop over time, to reflect your learning process and journey.

HOW TO TITLE AND LABEL YOUR BLOG POSTS

Blog post titles:

  • Always put your course name first in a blog post title. For example - Maths: Fractions; English: Poetry; Science: Photosynthesis. Make sense? The course name comes first, then the rest of title explains what your post content is about.
  • This makes it much easier for your teacher to locate your blog posts for their subject, in Hapara Teacher Dashboard.

Blog post labels:

Using labels is an easy way to organise your blog posts. You'll will have one central blog starting from Year 3-5 right through to Year 13, creating an amazing digital portfolio that tracks your learning journey over many years. You can have as many labels as you want to organise blog content, and teachers will state labels they'd like you to use too.

  • Add the year - 2017; 2018
  • Every post must has a label for the course or subject that post is from. This makes is much easier for you and your teachers to track evidence of learning in subjects - english; science; music; maths; etc

Subject links:

Make subject 'page links' at the top of your blog for each subject, to make your work even easier to locate. Use the label URL as the external link.
